Appreciating Others > Inspiration and Challenge

I found this post for a reason. I accept the challenge in my already overflowing work and home life. "I want to find a comfortable place in front of the camera." My Touchstone is "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou

Wooohooo Paula...you found this post because youre in the right place at the right time (as always). May I suggest starting with appreciation vs stating what is "problematic" in your life...so perhaps the slight clench of the "already overflowing work and home life" isnt serving you in this appreciation focus (unless appreciate that your life is overflowing with Love...but only if thats what you feel or mean here! Otherwise, just poof, edit that ou!) So to practice appreciation, START with appreciation: maybe for Maya Angelou and her poetry as it touched you! Then some appreciation for yourself: you go forward into what you want right now, inspriring your comfort in your skin in front of the camera. See - you're already amazing;, and in this moment of appreciation for yourself where you are right now you find the magic jumping off place to be, do or have anything else you want.

Good point. I appreciate Maya Angelou's poetry, particularly Phenomenal Woman. It feels empowering to me as a woman, a huge shout out to those of us who may not fit the cookie cutter mold of beauty dictated by society, but can still rock a man, a boardroom, or any other damn thing we please. I know there is a sparkle in my eye and a pattern to my speech that can open doors and catch attention. I need to remember the camera is just a thing, I am not any different on it than I am off it. It wont be there forever, its a tool for me to use to help me, an inanimate object that I control, not the other way around.

...or maybe you are different on camera! Wouldnt it be fun to find out? So many new and interesting realizations transformations and explorations! I love your affirmation of what you already know about yourself - the sparkle in your eye, the pattern of your speech - wouldnt it be interesting to know what else the camera is showing you about this fascinating woman? Maybe its something similar to what the mirrors show us about ourselves in hot yoga...

Went searching for a way to personalize long Savasana, found this, and fell in love.
"The Goddess pushes the cloud-hair from her eyes
And offers you a cup.
This is the chalise of life. The chalise of change and choice.
“Drink deeply”, she says. “And do not second guess yourself.
The only answers worth listening to are those that come from deep within.” Read Rhonda's reply and thought on it. What will the camera show me if I dont shy away from looking at the videos? Am I taller? What can I see to love me even more? What can it teach me? A tool to learn, not a thing to fear...

I reached out for the Touchstones about five times today. I recited part of Phenomenal Woman to my second in command at the office today because I thought she could use it. She felt better, I felt better. Driving home from the office I was freaking out because I felt overwhelmed by work/personal balance. I knew I had a video due and I was super anxious. I recited some script then thought about the poem I found last night and got home and got to business. At the end of my video I read the poem in the final Savasana part and as stressed as I was I finished up feeling calmer and more accepting. I watched part of the video while I was posting it and didnt have as much of a clenched up tight feeling seeing myself on camera. I noticed the difference from when I look directly at the camera, and when the screen goes to sleep. I noticed that this time I moved around some and didnt just stand stick straight and frozen. I am finding other Touchstones. The new poem and listening to music are a huge help.

Today was a great day. I didnt let things get me mad. I got a little frustrated and did my focus wheel and bounced right back. I went to class tonight and it was great. I spent a lot of time noticing things and then flipping what I noticed to a positive light. Fell out of kicking in Dandayamana Janushirasana? UH oh well, you werent kicking out at all before...la de da day. Having trouble with the scripts? Uh oh okay, you get better every week, just keep it moving. you are a phenomenal woman. get it moving past that stuff and keep it moving on and up.

I forgot to post yesterday. So two today. Yesterday was awesome. I was dreading scripting celebration all week and then Friday my outlook shifted to I will bring my best and let the Universe take the rest. I knew I was doing well and it really helped further me into a feeling of empowerment and confidence. So I came home and knocked out 30 Christmas/holiday cards.

I appreciate me. All of me, I am bold and impetuous. I am strong and determined. I live life fully, taking chances and risks, I fall down plenty and I get right back up. I am fierce and fearless and unstoppable.

I love how you dropped your dreading of scripting celebration and...turned out you only needed to script til Water Break - a gift from the Universe! And you did so beautifully...and I hope the rest of our Teacher Training meeting and our discussions and more - were more cause for celebration. Magical things can happen when we let go and let the Universe deliver... and its an interesting paradox that even when we have evidence from our own experience, letting go is a challenge. We all have this and it comes and goes, on various topics. Meanwhile I am basking in your appreciation for yourself!

What a beautiful poem! I love too how it you are offering this personal touchstone in Savasana - it is one of the fun things about Savasana, that is expands and changes as you discover new ways to share your heart with your students. I am really thrilled for you Paula... your acceptance and appreciation for who you are and accepting where you are in every moment is so beautiful ...may it serve you well in all the areas of your life, as you deserve all the love and acceptance there is

Missed a day, but I was busy with appreciation. I appreciated how easily I make things happen. I seamlessly manage my home, career, personal interests and family. I find time for what matters to me and too others. I learn that control is an illusion and that reality is in fact perception.

Day 10 I notice a huge difference in my attitude, toward myself and others. I am easier on me and them. I feel grateful and happy more often than not. The universe had an old friend reach out to me because he is a Pocono Realtor with a huge business. He offered to personally help me find the mountain house when I am done remodeling my current house. Next summer the search will begin. I appreciate me, I move mountains with my mind and I make the best things happen!!

I thought someone might think #10 might be me being lazy, but it's not. It came ringing out of my inner voice loud and clear. I AM Paula Rivera Robinson, the one and only and I am enough exactly as I am..there may be things I want to do, or learn but right in this moment. Paula Robinson is enough.

Not lazy at all! (and I hope you're posting all these inspirational I AMs on the FB page too!) There is a famous inspirational speaker named T Harv Eker. I have heard him speak quite a few times. One day someone asked him, "What is the "T"? And he replied, "The. I am The Harv Eker, the one and only." I loved that expression of self awareness and self love! Just as I enjoyed hearing it from you!
