Hot Yoga Experiences > Hot Yoga and Universal Order

Homeostasis is the details by which a body maintains order. It regulates the proper function and repair of our cells and ligaments, scar tissues and frequencies. It ensures proper metabolism, detox, runs circles through our liver and kidneys and hypothalamus.

The opposite of homeostasis would instability, chaos, the body’s imbalance to maintain the state of it’s natural functioning. The result is disintegration.

Personally, I believe all life is the disrepair of things and the repairing of them again. So perhaps it does not matter what you believe you that can or can’t do right now. It is all part of something bigger that you are not immune to. I think disintegration, like death and rebirth work in accordance to the natural laws that govern humanity without exception. I believe once we embrace that theory human existence will be softer.

In our training, We talk often about the Universe. We make lists of things to tackle when we feel overwhelmed and then trust by just doing three things a day that we feel inspired to do. It will all get done.

The key word there is inspire. Being uninspired goes against the body’s ability to maintain order within itself. It causes both disconnect, a lack of steady breathing, and challenging yoga classes. I wouldn’t argue that being uninspired in life is the cause of all suffering but I do think it’s a part of it. Suffering is also inevitable.

I think we maintain order with ourselves and our environment by feeling good about our existence. The way practice and teach, love and interact with people. Yes, We are microcosms of the greater Universe but our each and individual existence is incredibly important. Blind Faith, Inspiration: These are flames which will burn within you throughout your training. Begin by embracing where you are now. Wherever you are: No matter what you perceive in yourself as chaos because from chaos comes rebirth and no person is immune to that.

This is beautiful Alex. Thought I was reading MindBodyGreen for a moment.

Alex completely agree. From Chaos comes birth. No matter how crazy one feels in their current life chapter, it always teachers one a very important lesson and from that a rebirth of ones self to handle that situation better in the future. My philosophy, everything happens for a reason, and the Universe would not put you in a particular situation unless it was absolutely necessary to grow you as a person and you were able to handle it and recognize the lesson.

Good point Gabby - but I have stopped believing in "lessons." There is nothing to fix, and nothing to handle better in the "future..Everything does happen for a reason and that reason is this: because everything is always working out for you. No matter what it looks like, that which we see as "chaos" is actually you, letting go of the way you think things should be so that they can work out perfectly, exactly as you asked, and often most surprising ways. The Universe doesnt put you in any situation: it offers you a gift of the best possible path to all you asked for. Enjoy the ride; especially those unexpected twists and turns, as these are the real gifts of the Universe.

Oh I like that "The Universe doesnt put you in any situation: it offers you a gift of the best possible path to all you asked for"

You know how most times you look back at things you thought were a catastrophe at the time but can now see it was "for the best"? That's because the Universe knew better: the best (and often the fastest!) way to get you what you asked for....just keep asking and let go of the "planning"- not your job! Know that asking is step 1 (your Vision Board) the Universe heard you STEP 2 (another way to say this is that by your asking it was vibrationally created...Bizarro World theory) and you let it in by listening and following hunches and inspirations to take action (Inspiration Board - STEP 3)
Step lively into the life you want!

I don't believe in life lessons either! I said the same thing to someone the other day, Rhonda. It seems that every time I think I've learned something, there is always a different situation that comes about--and no place to apply such "learned' principles. You gain perspective, of course, but the more I learn, I come to find the less it is that I actually know (about life, the world, etc.). The only lessons you really learn are about yourself--what makes you happy and what doesn't--and that can only apply to you.

Beautifully said, Laura. What you are here to "learn" (I prefer the word" experience") is, what makes you happy! Sometimes you experience the happiness, sometimes you experience the contrast and you see even more clearly what makes you happy. Growth comes from happiness - and not just your growth: ever notice how people "puff up" in the presence of happy people? Misery doesn't seem to have the same affect on people, so how can misery be the way of growth for you (as many will tell you!) .

Happier and happier makes the world spiral upward - with you in the lead.

Also Alex, in response to your initial post about chaos: "The opposite of homeostasis would instability, chaos, the body’s imbalance to maintain the state of it’s natural functioning. The result is disintegration." - chaos ain't all bad. IN fact, it's a blast.

When you can be comfortable with the chaos and ambiguity, you are embracing the present moment. Chaos is just another word for the present moment, where "all possibiities exist at once." This is a beautiful place to be and it IS the only place from which new ideas, transformations, and AHA moments can occur.

You can think of homeostasis as...static and set. There is a place for that, but not necessarily forever. After all, who would want to live without surprises?

Next time you're in chaos, smile: it means you have opened up to the surprises life has in store for you ...and you are ready for the best parts.
