Yoga Philosophy > India

I've been doing so research on Banaras; The pilgrimage city constantly mentioned in this text. I found that itis one of the holiest and oldest in Northern India. Looking at this from a cultural perspective, everything that young Mukunda does is an act of God. Everything from crying to disobeying his Gurus is all part of his spiritual path... his Sadhana. I think in context this is very interesting because even though he is young and questions his path, he is constant in faith. Very beautiful.

Hmmm...do you think that living in a spiritual place can affect you? Many people do choose to live in places with a strong spiritual history or heritage, from Jerusalem to Tulum Mexico, for this reason. Have you ever been affected by a spiritual place?

Well, I think places retain a certain energy and that's why the human mind interprets them as spiritual or evil or tense or whatever. For example, The Sun Room in my house was a long time hang out for my grandfather. He would sit there everyday and watch the cars go by. This room now holds His energy even though He is no in this world anymore... Fans go on in the middle of the night. Lights go on... I feel him. This works on a larger level as well. That's what spiritual places are to me. Sanctuaries. I love the woods. Being close to trees, I feel energy. The same thing when a childhood friend showed me pictures of Aushwitz, I felt the energy of evil. I think that's how spirituality and energy and heritage come together. Especially in places with a sacred history... A whole bunch of people put a collective conscious into it.

Reminds me of the speaker the other day and the conversation we had last night, Alex. How certain places and people have an atmosphere about them. Positive people full of radiant energy can bring about this presence that impacts you as you walk by them. Entering a room where a fight just broke out has this tense energy. Same with spiritual places. Every living thing has an internal song. There is an exercise of actually putting human and animal DNA to music. Could it be when we're in full alignment our song can be heard the loudest and presence be magnanimous? Maybe this spiritual places echo the songs of the ones before us...

So weird. I was just reading an article about the energy in rooms after fights/tense discussions vs. happy ones. So when I talk about this as I so often do... People tend lean to the fact that it's unscientific and or foofy... I do too sometimes. But if we think out body and presences having electric current because, if you think about it, If we put our hands in an outlet we will die... It becomes more real. I look at energy as not even necessarily physical evidence but sometimes you just know something is there even though you can't see it. It's like Santa Claus ;)

You actually can see energy, Alex - just not necessarily with naked eyes. You can however, see it register on sensitive scientific instruments - energy has wave forms and shapes. And I think you're saying what my teacher used to say about electricity: you can't see it but when you plug in a light, you can see it's effects and know it is real. Like Santa Claus; it's real to all those who enjoy the magic of it once a year.
