Hot Yoga Topics > Himalayan Sea Salt

I’ve heard about all the benifits of Himalayan sea salt but I didn’t know the specifics, so I looked it up. This is what I’d like to share. Sole is water fully saturated with unrefined salt. When himalayan salt dissolves in water, it results in a concentrated, electrically charged matrix of the 84 trace minerals in the salt. The ionic salt and trace minerals nourish each cell in your body.
The ancient beds it is mined from are free from environmental toxins.

The benefits of himalayan salt sole include:
Detoxifies the body by balancing systemic pH
Improves hydration by providing trace minerals
Improves mineral status of the body
Reduces muscle cramps by improving minerals and hydration
Helps balance blood sugar
Supports hormone balance for everyone, no matter what hormonal issues you face
Helps balance blood pressure because it provides unrefined, mineral-rich salt in an ionic solution
Improves sleep by supporting blood sugar and hormone balance
Acts as a powerful antihistamine
Supports weight loss by balancing hormones and improving energy
Supports thyroid and adrenal function

This salt can also be inhaled improving any respiratory or nasal condition.
Himalayan salt also has properties to improve the air quality of your home and reduce the electric magnetic frequencies emitted from all the electronics in our home.
Bathing in these sea salts has a detoxifying effect.

So grab one of the blocks at the studio and sweat on it during savasana!

Thanks for sharing the post and the website. It was a great summary on Sole. Jeanne, you really hit all the points. Now to convince my kids to drink it instead of those artificial “sports” drinks:( maybe I’ll add some fresh lemon/lime or even orange slices, any frozen fruit might even make it palatable for the tastebuds of my kids.

Thanks, Jeanne and Maria, for discussing the benefits of pink himalayan sea salt. I love the sea salt blocks in class and especially enjoy putting one under my head during Savasana. I actually recently bought a small Himalayan Sea Salt lamp to keep in my office so i can reap the benefits at work, too. My favorite combination to help me with allergies is having my sea salt lamp on and diffusing an essential oil like Eucalyptus. Nature provides us with so many wonderful gifts that enhance our health! :)

I agree Pamela and I love how we keep discovering all these gifts from nature! The heat of the hot yoga room helps to release the minerals into the air and thus helps then infuse through your skin - much like your sea salt lamp. Have you tried a sea salt cave or sauna yet? Entire rooms made of pink sea salt bricks...I love it@

I have done 2 sessions in a salt cave--I found it so relaxing--the type of relaxation that lasts the entire day. Would like to get there more often.

Your wish is our command Irene! Have you noticed the small wall of Himalayan Pink Sea Salt bricks in front of our space heater in the hot yoga room? This is adding the salt-cave effect to our hot yoga studio so each time you practice, you are getting the benefits of the salt cave. As many hot yoga classes as you do,thats how many salt cave sessions you are also getting!

I think I want to try the sea salt spa experience. I have seasonal allergies and I really like when the salt bricks are in the hot yoga room. I stick one under my head pretty regularly. Where have they been recently?

It’s so important to pay attention to replacing minerals when you sweat a lot in hot yoga! The Himalayan sea salt bricks have been moved in front or the propane heater as they work best heated! But you can grab one on the outside of the fireplace grate and use it as a pillow in savasana ... I love doing that too!
