A funny thing happened in Hot Yoga class....

"Pranayama began. I was compressing my belly exhaling, taking big balloon belly breaths. I imagined absorbing energy into my organs with each breath. In my mind, I was doing a great thing, really helping my body heal itself.

Then... I felt like vomiting

I was dizzy, nauseous, worried about how I would exit the full class without stepping on someone to get to the ladies room to throw up..."

You come to hot yoga to get toned, lose weight, loosen up, stretch out, relax, de-stress, but...

Morning, Noon or Night: when's the best time for hot yoga?

Could doing hot yoga at a new time of day boost your benefits?

Do you feel sluggish afew hours after lunch?

Do you have trouble sleeping at night?

Do you need a coffee the size of your head before you can function in the morning?

It could be that your circadian rhythms are confused. In this 24/7, globally awake, in your Facebook, tweet-tweet-news-flash, no interest in Pinterest, attention medicated world, we're all a bit confused.

Vinyasa and Moksha and Bikram, Oh My! Or: How to stop worrying and enjoy hot yoga.

Is Riverflow Yoga the same path as Vinyasa Flow, Moksha or Bikram Yoga?

Nope, nope, and not quite.

What to do about the many forms of hot yoga? Dig in. Do you limit yourself to just one spice? If you enjoy garlic, are you forever banned from allspice?  Maybe not in the same recipe, but there's a delicious place for both, whenever you want.

Do you have to swear loyalty to one hot yoga style or teacher?

Each hot yoga class, I say, "This was the best." Next class, I say it again. That's because I use hot yoga as my object of appreciation in that moment; my reason to feel good right now and my momentum for feeling better. I don't sweat it, and that's my wish for you: to savor your hot yoga and let it warm you from inside.
